Where to Find Event Funding
The GSA recommends that students seeking funding for events make requests to the GradLab, a resource established last year by the GSA and the GSC specifically to fund student events.
You may also be able to receive funding from the following offices and centers, depending on the kind of event you are organizing.
- Disability Resource Center
- Lionel Cantú Queer Center
- Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- The Women’s Center
- The Ethnic Resource Centers
Your own departments, the Graduate Division, and the Academic Divisions might also be able to support you with funding relevant events!
UCSC Graduates Demand Equal Pay for Equal Work!
Our monthly wage is $2,434 before taxes. This monthly wage is only for the 9 months of the year for which we are employed, totaling $21,906 before taxes. Santa Cruz is one of the least affordable counties for renters in the country.
We demand a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for every* graduate student to bring us out of rent burden.
At current rates, this amounts to an additional $1,412 per month.** The COLA must be adjusted annually to keep up with the rental market.
Adjusting for the cost of living is common in private and public sector jobs in California.
COLA is also a demand to recognize the precarity of our seasonal unemployment as graduate student workers, who make a monthly wage of $2,434 but an annual wage of $21,906, because the UC Boss only employs us for 9 months out of the year.
