Who is the GSA?
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) serves the interests of over 1,900 graduate and professional students at UCSC by representing their concerns to faculty, administration, staff, and to UC system-wide administrators through the University of California Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC) and the University of the California Office of the President (UCOP). We are made up of and represent all of the graduate and professional students at UC Santa Cruz! To stay up to date with the GSA be sure to follow us on instagram @ucsc.gsa. We defend the interests of graduate and professional students with regard to:
- Civil Rights and Free Speech
- On-Campus Housing (and waitlists)
- Parking Issues (TAPS)
- Tuition and Fees
- Childcare/Dependent Care
- Health Insurance
- Barriers Facing International Students
- Issues of Visibility for Underrepresented Students
- Any other issues facing enrolled professional and graduate students
In addition, the GSA organizes and co-sponsors events that benefit grads, and makes available travel grants for graduate students attending conferences or traveling on thesis-related research. We do this by placing graduate and/or professional students on key committees and by meeting directly with decision-makers.
The GSA Council consists of the elected Executive Board officers and a graduate representative from each degree-awarding department. The Council meets to discuss and strategize around grad student’s needs and concerns and to make funding decisions.
We hope to see you at our next
Council meeting. For more information contact
